Ecobuilding a Bright Future
Earth 2 Hub | March 04 2012
EcoBuild, the world’s biggest event for sustainable design, construction and the built environment, returns to ExCel London from March 20th-22nd 2012. Earth 2.0® champions Dr. Rachel Armstrong and Melissa Sterry, both seasoned speakers at the event, will be taking to the stage at its conference and seminars, alongside industry and academic peers to explore subjects close to Earth 2.0®’s heart.

Melissa, together with Living PlanIT CEO Steve Lewis, leading technology futurist Chris Yapp and the AA School’s Liam Young will comprise the panel for a seminar titled The Smart, Interconnected Future City: what is it and how can it help us live more sustainably, which will take place 12:30 – 14:00 on March 21st at the South Gallery. Rachel will join director of SENSEable City Lab at MIT Carlo Ratti for Senseable Cities: Living Environments of the Future taking place 13:00 – 14:00 on March 21st in the main conference hall.

We also recommend adding Collaborative consumption: the future of building strong communities taking place 11:00 – 12:00 March 21st to your Ecobuild planner. The session features Rachel Botsman, social innovator and author of What’s Mine is Yours: The Rise of Collaborative Consumption which TIME magazine called "One of the top 10 ideas that will change the world", in conversation with behavioural economist and award winning Financial Times columnist Tim Harford.

Another not to miss session includes The Incredible Human Journey: 195,000 years out of Africa, but where next? hosted by Tony Juniper, for which the speaker is anatomist, anthropologist, author and presenter of shows including Coast, Digging for Britain and Costing the Earth Dr. Alice Roberts, which takes place 16.15 – 17.15 March 21st.

Having hooked up with our friends at sustain’ magazine, you can find Earth 2.0® at stand S772 at the expo, so drop by and say hello if attending the expo.
