LIDIA BADARNAH KADRI is an architect specialising in biomimetics, design concept generation, building envelope adaptation and urban design. She has a PhD from Delft University of Technology, and a B.Arch. (Cum Laude) from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. She received the 1st prize of Israel and Leon Reiskin Award 2004/2005 for the originality and creativity graduation project. Her PhD dissertation proposes a strategic methodology, referred to as the living envelope methodology, for the generation of biomimetic design concepts. The methodology assists channelling the way from technical challenges, defined by the demands on the living envelope, through functional aspects and various strategies found in nature. Lidia has participated in academic activities, presented her work at international conferences, tutored research work, mentored MSc Projects on biomimetics, and organised and coordinated two international design workshops at TU Delft.

Ilana Rein was born and raised in NYC. She started her career as a photographer with her work being widely exhibited at numerous galleries and published in Doubletake, Scientific American, Jane, 9/9 Paris and Art in America. Her films have been screened internationally in galleries, theaters and film festivals including Lincoln Center (New York Video Festival - now called Views from the Avant Guard), A.I.R., and Participant and reRun Theater, NYC.

Paula Baptista

Paula is a Brazilian Architect and Urbanist specialized in sustainable building: performance and design. Her work is inspired by the idea of employing a holistic approach to architectural and urban design by following ecological energy efficiency principles. She is currently working at adapting green technologies to the Brazilian construction method via passive and active design strategies along with an award winning team of architects and engineers at Tecverde Engineering. We caught up with Paula to find out how she’s helping to build a greener future.
